PERMIT APPEAL
What is the Permit Appeal? The Permit Appeal was filed by four residents of Russell who are distinctly aggrieved by the Town's permitting of the plant. The Permit Appeal alleges that those Town officials who granted the Special Permit did so unlawfully, violating the Zoning By-Law. The Permit Appeal could result in a judge taking away the Special Permit from Russell Biomass. Wouldn't that be great? Will you consider giving a financial gift at this time to support the Permit Appeal? This is a community effort and each one of us has an important part to play. If the plaintiffs were to have insufficient funds to continue seeking justice, we would all lose. If the permit appeal is successful, we all win an important victory. Let's help them! Over $16,000 has been raised so far, as many people have given generously when asked. Now we are asking YOU. Your help is needed if we are to keep up with the legal bills and protect the beauty and wholesomeness of our region. Gifts have ranged from $10.00 to $2,000.00 and have come in from up in Colrain Massachusetts down to Tenafly New Jersey! We simply must protect our children's future in whatever way we can. Please keep in mind that legal representation is expensive. A number of people on fixed income have given gifts of $10.00 which we appreciate so much. For wage-earners, we suggest a household donation of $200.00 in this historic effort to protect our town and region. This definitely takes sacrifice, and it is just a suggestion for those who will. We only ask that each one give as generously as you are able, and know that we deeply appreciate each and every gift. PLEASE DON'T DELAY-- If you can help, please get an envelope and stamp and make out a check today to Anderson & Kreiger. Jay Rasku, Massachusetts Field Director of Toxics Action Center, has recommended Attorney Art Kreiger as "possibly the best environmental lawyer in the state." Anderson and Kreiger 43 Thorndike Street Cambridge, MA 02141 memo: Russell Appeal If you need to make an ANONYMOUS DONATION, an easy way to remember is to fill out an envelope with the above address, put a stamp on it, and bring it to the bank with you to get a BANK CHECK. We thank you from the heart for caring and for giving. |
